Environment & infrastructure score: rebuilt
The cross-layer score is now called the environment & infrastructure score. It bundles five dimensions per planning area, each with a weight of 20 per cent. The page is at /en/umwelt-infrastruktur-score. Old links redirect there with a 301.
The five dimensions
- Quiet & air: noise and air pollution from the Environmental Atlas.
- Green & heat: green space provision and thermal stress.
- Mobility: proximity to U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram, bus and cycling network.
- Local amenities: distance to daycare centre, school, hospital, playground and green space.
- Tenant protection: location within a Milieuschutz area.
Each dimension remains available on its own. In the inspector, it expands to its source layers, with a normalised value and weight per source.
Overall score on the map
New: the overall value is available as a map layer of its own. "Kiez score · overall" colours all 542 planning areas by the mean of the five dimensions. At a glance you can see where environment and infrastructure are strong or weak together, without searching for an address first.
Inspector rebuilt
The address inspector has been reworked from the ground up. The score now sits at the top of the block as an activity ring: one ring per dimension, with the overall figure in the centre. Clicking a ring or a row opens the source layers below it.
The individual data layers render as compact cards instead of long rows. Facilities such as daycare centres, schools or hospitals show name and address, plus map toggles and a link to the layer details. The climate section for the DWD weather station now follows the same card style.
Not in the score
Social situation (Monitoring Social Urban Development) and environmental justice no longer count towards the score. Both stay visible in the inspector as context, but do not feed into the weighting. The reason: the score only measures variables with a clear direction of better and worse. Social structure and affordability cannot be tilted in one direction without a value judgement.
