Calculation

Weighted aggregation of noise and air per planning area (noise 0.5, air 0.5). Noise is a dB average (L_DEN) from the facade points of the 2022 strategic noise map: ≤45 dB → 100, ≥75 dB → 0, linear. Air as a 3-level index (low to high). Both normalised to 0–100, centroid-accurate per LOR polygon. Since the score reorganisation, bioclimate counts under Green & heat.

Coverage gaps

  • Noise dB is the average across the facade points in the LOR; quiet back courtyards without a facade point are not included.
  • Model values, no monitoring stations. Micro-locations of individual addresses remain invisible.

What we don't show

  • Indoor exposure in flats not included.
  • No separate rating by source (road, rail, air traffic).

Frequently asked questions

Night-time noise disturbs the sleep phases in which the cardiovascular system and nerves recover. The World Health Organization recommends a guideline value of 40 dB for night-time noise (LNIGHT). The Berlin noise mapping therefore reports LDEN and LNIGHT separately.
